privacy policy
last updated: April 2025
the short version
We collect as little as possible. Anonymous accounts are genuinely anonymous — no email, no phone number, no name required. We don't sell your data. We don't run ads.
what we collect
- Account data — if you create a username/password account, we store your username and a hashed password. If you use email login, we store your email. Anonymous accounts have neither.
- Content you post — posts, comments, and votes are stored and associated with your account (not your real identity for anonymous accounts).
- Technical data — standard server logs including IP addresses and timestamps, used for security and abuse prevention. Not linked to your content in any user-facing way.
- Session data — cookies to keep you signed in. Nothing tracked across other sites.
what we don't collect
- Your real name
- Your location (beyond what's in server logs)
- Tracking pixels or cross-site analytics
- Any data sold to third parties
how we use your data
- To run the platform (display posts, manage accounts, record votes)
- To enforce our terms of service and remove harmful content
- To respond to legal requests if required by law
That's it.
third-party services
- Supabase — our database and authentication provider. Your data is stored on Supabase infrastructure. See supabase.com/privacy.
- Groq— used for AI-assisted content moderation and the writing assistant. Post content may be sent to Groq's API for processing. See groq.com/privacy-policy.
your rights
- You can delete your posts and comments at any time
- You can request deletion of your account and associated data
- For anonymous accounts, once the session ends there is no persistent identity to delete
data retention
Posts and comments remain on the platform until deleted by the author or removed by moderation. Server logs are retained for up to 90 days. Account data is retained until you request deletion.
